چکیده

Abstract Computing a sample mean of time series under dynamic warping is NP-hard. Consequently, there an ongoing research effort to devise efficient heuristics. The majority heuristics have been developed for the constrained problem that assumes solution predefined length. In contrast, on unconstrained underdeveloped. this article, we propose generic average-compress (AC) algorithm address problem. alternates between averaging (A-step) and compression (C-step). A-step takes initial guess as input returns approximation mean. Then C-step reduces length approximate solution. compressed serves in next iteration. purpose direct more promising solutions shorter proposed sense any method can be used. Experimental results show AC substantially outperforms current state-of-the-art algorithms averaging.

Time Warping Under Dynamic Constraints

Action and event recognition from video require comparing temporal sequences of images, or of intermediate representations derived from them. Such a comparison should be insensitive to intrinsic temporal variations within the same class – for instance the speed of execution of a particular gesture – and at the same time retain discriminative power to enable classifying different actions. In thi...

On the Existence of a Sample Mean in Dynamic Time Warping Spaces

Though the concept of sample mean in dynamic time warping (DTW) spaces is used in pattern recognition applications, its existence has neither been proved nor called into question. This article shows that a sample mean exists under general conditions that cover common variations of different DTW-spaces mentioned in the literature. The existence proofs are based on a Reduction Theorem that bounds...
